About the Campaign
In 2022 an awesome group of blokes – Mark, Brenton, Chris, Dave, Andy, and Jayden – decided to support NZST by riding the tracks of the Arapuke Mountain Bike Park for a 24 hour marathon (three teams of two riding an hour at a time, on rotation).
You’d have to be a special kind of ‘passionate’ to ride around a mountain bike track through the night – in pouring rain no less. But to do it again? Bonkers!
And yet this group are going to undertake the Arapuke Awesome 24 hour Bike Marathon again during Labour Weekend 2023 … they may be crazy, but we love their enthusiasm and determination. They’re even letting Hans join them again.
And why are they doing this? Because back in 2019, when Jayden was just 15, he had an accident while riding trails in this park and sustained a Spinal Cord Injury which left him a T12 para. Jayden’s living life to its fullest and still racing down hills – though now he’s more likely to be covered in snow – but in those early uncertain days, the NZST was a great support. “As a family, immediately after Jayden’s accident, there were so many stages and emotions that we needed to process. The Spinal Trust gently helped us navigate all of those areas with amazing care and support. This is a small way that we can ‘give back’.”
Please throw your support behind this effort – every donation you make to this event is a great motivator to keep pushing through those dark, cold hours through the night.
