About the Campaign

In the summer of 2019 my then 15 year old son Jayden, had a mountain biking accident and is now living life as a T12 paraplegic. During our time spent at the Burwood Spinal Unit, the New Zealand Spinal Trust were incredibly supportive of our family & friends – during some of the most challenging and darkest days.  Now 17 years old, Jayden lives very differently, but retained his heart for adventure and an increased zest for life. In the early days this was very much due to the support and generosity of the NZST.

Myself (Mark), Brenton, Chris, Dave, Andy and Jayden will be undertaking a 24 hour mountain bike challenge throughout the hills of the Arapuke Mountain Bike Park – the location of Jaydens accident. Three teams of two will ride for an hour at a time on rotation for 24 hours on Waitangi Day 2022.

We would love you to support us as we take on this challenge. One of the ways you could do this if you are able is financially. All the money raised will go towards the Spinal Trust who continue to do amazing mahi to support people with spinal injuries to live life to the fullest – just like Jayden!

UPDATE: Wow!  What incredible support we’re receiving – HUGE thank you to everyone who’s given so far!  We’ve had a chat and decided we might have  ‘undersold’ ourselves … so we’re going to go hard (on and off the bikes!) and increase our goal to $10,000!  Reckon we can do it?  Ab-so-lute-ly! 😜  And by the way … Hans from NZST is planning on coming up and joining us on the trails – woo hoo!  Let’s go team!
